the same name, runs on the Women's Entertainment Network on Sundays
at 10 p.m. (ET). Focusing on the everyday craziness of a typical
frazzled family, the show features the voices of Catherine O'Hara,
Eugene Levy, Andrea Martin and Dave Foley.

Interview with Committed Cartoonist Michael Fry
-----------------------------------------------
Question: When did you first know you wanted to be a cartoonist?
Michael Fry: I was in college, living with several talented
roommates. One was a writer, another a musician, and another a
photographer. They all had girlfriends. I did not. Obviously I
needed a talent. I admired Doonesbury, especially in its early
crude incarnation, since it showed that lack of artistic ability
need not be a barrier to success...or girls. Or so I thought.
Turns out cartoonists don't get the chicks at near the same rate as
writers, musicians or photographers.
They really should put that in the brochure.
Q: Who are some of your cartooning influences?
MF: Garry Trudeau, Bill Watterson, Berke Breathed, Dr. Seuss and
whoever drew the "Draw the Leprechaun - You can be an artist TOO!"
ads in TV Guide when I was a kid.
Q: How does creating a comic by yourself, as you do with Committed,
differ from collaborating, as you do for Over the Hedge?
MF: With Committed I don't have to share any of the money.
Q: How did the Committed TV show come about?
MF: Getting a television show made is like shoving a pot roast
through a cheerio. It can be done, but it's not pretty. Committed
took about six years, three continents, two show runners, a LOT of
screaming at network executives who were NOT parents, and some
amazingly talented writers, performers and technicians...to get on
the air.
Q: How involved in the show are you?
MF: If you love it: I did everything...including separating out all
the green M&M's for Dave Foley.
If you hate it: What TV show?
Q: If you weren't a cartoonist, what other career would you like to
try?
MF: In my next life, I'd like to come back as a dog. But not one
of those little, inbred, rodent, yappy fashion accessories. I'd
like to come back as an Irish Wolfhound or a St. Bernard.
Something massive that drools a lot. The drool will keep the
kiddos away so I'll be able to sleep 22 hours a day.
Except for the whole neutering thing, being a dog would be great.

Go Figure Launches
----------------------
In Go Figure, the latest comic to join Comics.com, psychiatrist
Norman Floyd lives in a high-rise with his wife, Miriam, their son,
Teddy, and their dog, Ruprecht. After spending his workday dealing
with his daffy clients, Dr. Floyd returns home for an evening of...
dealing with his daffy family.
"I could say I'm trying to explore the complexity of family
relationships, along with delving deeply into the world of
psychiatry and neuroses, but in fact I'm just trying to come up
with something funny every day," says Go Figure cartoonist J.C.
Duffy. "Since I don't actually have a wife, son, dog, or
psychiatrist, I figured that was the most sensible approach to
take."
