Secret Asian Man

Please welcome Tak Toyoshima, whose new strip, Secret Asian Man, is the first nationally syndicated comic strip featuring an Asian American as the lead character. The strip centers around Osamu “SAM” Takahashi—a struggling comic strip artist with dreams of hitting the big time—his wife Marie and son Shintaro. Through humor and wit, the strip tackles some of the unresolved issues regarding race, gender, and orientation. Secret Asian Man joined the Comics.com and United Feature Syndicate family on July 16th, 2007.

Congratulations National Cartoonists Society Award Winners

Comics.com would like to congratulate Pearls Before Swine cartoonist Stephan Pastis and World of Wonder creator Laurie Triefeldt on their wins at the 61st Annual Reuben Awards in Orlando, FL on May 26th, 2007. Pearls Before Swine was named the Best Newspaper Comic Strip of the year for the second time. The strip features a megalomaniacal Rat who thinks he knows it all and a slow-witted Pig who doesn’t know any better. Triefeldt took home the award for Best Newspaper Illustration with her World of Wonder panel, a weekly feature devoted to exploring educational themes and examining the realms of history, science, nature, and technology.
