Kit is a single working woman, Carlyle is her spunky, mischievous kitten and their lives together provide the humor for the daily panel Kit 'N' Carlyle. Created by Larry Wright, the comic has been distributed worldwide by Newspaper Enterprise Association since 1980. Cat lovers understand Kit's trials with her kitten, Carlyle, as he shreds the furniture, gets into mischief with Kit's niece Carly, and glares at Kit's boyfriends. Few of her dates survive under such intense scrutiny, and those who do endure home-cooked meals so awful, even Carlyle turns up his nose to them. Anyone who knows and loves cats recognizes Carlyle as the real thing. Wright, an editorial cartoonist for The Detroit News, explains why Carlyle's behavior is so true to life. "I just draw whatever my real cat does at home," he says. "There's hardly any exaggeration."
