MY GREATEST CAREER ACHIEVEMENT
By Kevin Fagan

About a year ago, I did a two week series of strips where Ralph gets his dream job: working in a donut shop that looks suspiciously like Krispy Kreme. In case you haven't been in one, they make the donuts before your very eyes, as they move down conveyor belts. Anyway, to my delight, the Krispy Kreme people saw those strips and purchased the originals, which I was happy to sign.

Then, last summer I walked into a Krispy Kreme shop in Orange, California. There on the wall were all 12 strips, beautifully framed. It was quite a fun surprise, since I had no idea they were going to do this. I ran to the counter and tried to explain to the clerk that I was the guy who drew those, but she just smiled and offered me a donut. I offered to autograph her apron, but she said no thank you. She obviously didn't want to put a famous cartoonist like me to any trouble. What a nice person!

Anyway, if you're ever in the vicinity, drop in and see the framed Drabble strips. Personally, I think it's better than having my work displayed in a museum. (Not that I would have any idea what it's like to have my work displayed in a museum.)

You can also find these strips included in the newest Drabble book, entitled "Who Wants To Be A Fenderhead", published by NBM. It contains other recent strips that got some attention, like the "Jungle" strips that were mentioned on the Jim Rome radio show (I still get e-mail from the clones!), Ralph Drabble's most recent foray into the wrestling ring, and Ralph's experience as a contestant on "Who Wants To Be A Millionnaire."

Thanks for your continuing support! I'm going to go get some donuts now.

Kevin Fagan
